1. Can I drive the lorry if im aged under 25yrs?

This can be arranged for ages between 23yrs-25yrs. We would contact our insurers to arrange this, usually there is a small fee to pay or a higher excess fee.

2. Can you have more then one driver?

Yes you can have one additional driver with no extra cost.

3. What max height can the lorry carry?

Our sonic equitrek lorry will carry up to 18hh but you are restricted on the weight. They have a max carry capacity of up to 1050kg.

4. Do horses travel well in your lorry?

Yes because the lorry is rear facing. This is scientifically proven to aid comfort and less strain on the horse legs. It also has a completely separate living area unlike some two stall horse boxes which allows the horses heads to look over into the living area. So in case of an accident if the horse was to rear up and put its legs over breast bar it would not get stuck in the living area. This is the reason for choosing the equitrek brand because of the safety feature. 5. Are there any extra charges?

No apart from we provide the lorry with a full tank of diesel on hire and we ask for the lorry to be returned with a full tank.

6. How early can I pick the lorry up?

When possible we allow you to pick up the lorry the evening before to help out with those early morning starts. But on returning the lorry we ask if you are likely to be later than 9pm that if you could make us aware at time of booking so that we can give the next customer a realistic pick up time.

7. I passed my driving test after 1997 can I still drive your lorry?

Yes you can drive our lorry which is 3.5 tonne; this will state this on the back of your driving licence so there is no need for you to take any additional test unless you attend on driving a bigger lorry which is over 3.5 tonne.

8. I need to cancel my booking will I loose my deposit?

Yes unless cancellation is made 72hrs before hire. As we understand that with horses in particular things can go wrong unexpected last minute, so we are fully flexible and allow you to carry your deposit over to another date but this must be redeemed within 3 months.

9. Do I need to provide my own insurance cover to drive the lorry?

No a fully comprehensive insurance is provided as part of the package.

10. Do I need to get my own roadside assistance if we were to break down?

No we provide 24hr roadside break down cover rescue which is comes with the package.

11. Does my horse need to be insured?

Yes it is an essential that your horse is insured and that we have details of the insurance policy upon request.

12. Does my horse need a passport to travel in your lorry?

Yes it is a requirement to carry passports when travelling with your horse. From 28th February 2005 horse passport regulations specify that, horses must be accompanied by their passport when moving under the following circumstances:

  1. For the purpose of competition
  2. For the purpose of breeding
  3. In or out of Great Britain
  4. To other premises where a veterinary medical product is to be administered
  5. To the premises of a new keeper
  6. To a slaughterhouse
  7. For the purposes of sale

Trading Standards have been carrying out spot checks on horse transporters and private owners as they travel throughout Britain and have indicated their intention to impose fines of between £2,000 - £5,000 for any horse travelling without a passport. We recommend that you carry your horse passports at all times when travelling, we must advise that our national network of horse transporters could refuse to help recover your horse from a breakdown or accident if they are not travelling with their passports.

13. Do I need to clean the horsebox before returning it?

That is up to you! We ask that if you wish to clean the vehicle, to use just water on floors and walls and that it be returned to the same level of cleanliness in which you received it. However, we do also provide a valet service if you choose not to clean the box, at the price of £15,00 for the two stall horseboxes to help save you time.
